There is a growing trend to have collections within thimble collections and a small, specialised themed area is Easter thimbles. For thimbles to fit within this category they should be dated. This then qualifies them both as commemorative as well as Easter thimbles.
The Thimble Guild of Biggar in Scotland has featured Easter thimbles in their catalogues over the years. These seem to be undated or only produced for one year. If the thimbles are not branded, it is difficult to track the makers after the event.
As far as I can find out there are only a few firms that have dated Easter thimbles - eg. Caverswall and Heritage Collection.
This page would not have been possible without Sue Pickles. Thank you Sue for your generous help and sharing. Sue in turn had help from other collectors who are listed as Contributors at the end of this page .
| Caverswall |
Following the successful Caverswall China Christmas series 1977-1993, there are the Easter thimbles that appeared from 1978-1993. Caverswall Bone China of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent in England, started producing thimbles in 1977, as a result of the demand worldwide for collectors' thimbles. John Chown who owned Caverswall made thimbles from 1977 until 1993. Caverswall thimbles have always had a distinctive shape. I have included the colour of the backstamp where known as this is of interest to collectors of Caverswall thimbles.

| Heritage Collection |
In Australia, Heritage Collections marketed hallmarked English silver thimbles with an Easter theme. They were only produced for three Easters: 1982-1984 (their Christmas thimbles 1981-1984). Each year has the maker's mark of a different silversmith, but all were assayed in Birmingham. All are lightweight and with boxed with authenticity certificates, which were numbered
