Charles Iles / Iles & Gomms BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND Charles Iles registered his maker's mark in 1889 and it is probable that it was only used from then until 1903. This means that the bulk of his thimbles are unmarked, though thimbles do exist with ILES stamped onto the band. I have noticed that Iles thimbles tend to have striations or milling behind the patterning: a good test but not foolproof Charles Iles' maker's mark 3 thimbles with touching rims in a triangular shield, registered in 1889.
